There are two major registration intakes for the
teacher-directed courses during the school year.
These are:
Semester 1: End of August / Early September
Semester 2: January
Each semester is approximately 20 weeks long. Some
programs have a continuous intake throughout the
year (e.g., self-paced Grade 10, 11, 12 Learning Centre
courses, computer courses, English as a Second Language
(ESL)).
Please make an appointment to see a counselor/advisor
if, after group registration, you feel you need more
assistance in selecting your courses.
| Fall Registration Schedule
|
All returning and new students must phone (250) 360-4332 to make an appointment for registration.
Avoid disappointment! Register early!
Note: You might need an assessment to determine at what
level to begin your studies. Please refer to the section on
Assessment Testing. Assessments should be completed
prior to registration.
Please call Continuing Education office for dates and times.
Advisors will be available at all registration sessions. If
you are not sure about the program you wish to take,
you can get an individual appointment with a counselor.
The Registration sessions are the actual times in which
you will be signing up for your classes. At this time you
will complete your personal course timetable, complete
the required registration forms, and pay for any tuition
and other fees.
| Getting the Most Out of the Semester System |
The first semester runs from early September to end of January, and the second semester runs from early February to end of
June. Classes for each course occur daily so work
missed can accumulate rapidly.
Regular attendance and punctuality are important in
keeping up-to-date with assignments, due dates, and
test dates. Using an agenda book to write these down
is recommended. See a counselor early if you are concerned
about balancing your course load in order to pace your study schedule.
A free assessment in English and Mathematics is
required so that students can begin their studies at the
appropriate level. Students who enroll in courses for
which they lack recommended prerequisites or adequate
preparation will be advised as to more appropriate
placement. Assessments generally take 1 to 2 hours.
There is no fee for this service.
Note: Practice tests are available, please contact the office.
Students must write an assessment test before registration
if they:
• Have been out of school longer than one year
• Have English as a Second Language
(assessment will be provided by the ESL instructor)
• Are uncertain about their academic level
